Painter/ acrylic
Marigrace (MG) loved art at a very young age. Avidly watching Bob Ross and attempting to create his paintings with her Crayola crayons.
She did not discover painting until her freshman year in high school and it quickly became her favorite medium. In high school she painted several murals for the school and in local homes in Rock Island Illinois.
Attended Black Hawk College with her main study being art. It was short-lived and only lasted two semesters and life began. Would paint from time to time but nothing consistent.
2015 she began to paint on a more regular basis. If she happened to find an image she enjoyed or someone asked for something specific.
In 2016 MG set a year-long goal to paint 100 paintings within 12 months. Picking specific subjects and painting several paintings on each one making sure to complete a minimum of three paintings a week. The 100 painting goal was hit in October with two months to spare.
At that point MG increased her goal to 900 paintings. To date 500 paintings have been completed. While working towards this gold MG has developed a fluid painting style that allows her to paint up to 20 canvases at a time. MG never knows what she’s going to paint when she walks up to her art table. The process that she has created has taken all the pressure out of thinking of what to paint. She will process several backgrounds over the course of a night. And then she will look at the background to see what shows up. Then using contrasting colors she will enhance the image that has appeared in the background. She works from a home studio based in New Kensington and invites other local artists to join her at the table.
